Having a new roof installed is a major home improvement and a major expense, so it’s worth investigating thoroughly. In my case, I wanted a roof that was environmentally friendly and sustainable. There are more options for that than you might think. A green, living roof seemed like the obvious choice, but then I found out about cool roofs, that reduce the heat island effect, and blue roofs, designed to catch and harvest rainwater. Also, I learned that some of the more traditional roofing materials are more sustainable than you might think. What I learned from all of this research helped me choose my roof, but it also gave me the idea for this blog. I know that it can be confusing to try to choose the right roof, and I thought that sharing my experience and research could help other people choose the right roof for their home.
